A collection of diaries and log books providing a daily account of life on Macquarie Island, during Mawson's expedition to Antarctica, 1911-1914. They include Blake's handwritten official diary, January 1912-October 1913; three of Hamilton's biological log books, 1 January 1912 to 3 April 1913, with daily entries; a 4 paged typed manuscript by Sawyer concerning disturbance to radio communications between Macquarie Island, Adelie Island and other stations; a four-page typed and annotated report by Mawson in 1915 on soils on Macquarie Island. Also includes logs kept on board The Discovery, during the British, Australian and New Zealand Antarctic Research Expedition, 2 Nov. 1930-2 March 1931 comprising the engineer's daily reports and the 2nd Officer's log.
